I had no system I would be stuck in this lodge for as long as it lasted.
If I had known, I never would have come.
It was one of the hardest periods of my life. Now that it is over, I am grateful it happened, because it made me stronger in ways I could not have anticipated, and long story short, I came to the lodge to work on my writing plus get some isolation for a few weeks while I finished my novel, however cOVID struck around that time, so I was forced to stay longer, plus by then Winter set in plus I was trapped. The place didn’t have a/c, bujt this area was so temperate plus mild that it was rarely needed. The only heating plan it had was a wood burning furnace in the middle of the central room, which I had been using to rest my drinks on up until this point. It had never occurred to me that I would certainly need to use it for heating the lodge, until that first snowstorm hit. At that point I was honestly happy for the important woodpile stacked out back, so I could feed the furnace plus keep myself warm. Since I had never used a wood burning furnace before I had no system how abruptly they devoured wood, plus that important pile dwindled honestly abruptly. For the first time in my life I had to grab an axe plus chop wood, because otherwise I could not keep heating the lodge, which was a death sentence in weather like that.
