A complication with my air quality

My complication isn’t that I smoke too much weed, it’s that my home smells too much like weed.

I recognize there is no such thing as too much weed, if I have the wherewithal to keep smoking then I will! The next morning though, I wake up plus the place reeks of stale smoke, ash, plus dirty bongwater.

I have to open up all the windows plus crank up the fans to air it out. The complication is that after doing that so numerous times, it isn’t helping. The ugly smell sort of clings to the place now, plus it’s a complication for me. I need better air quality, plus at this point it is a multiplefold problem, because I need to raise the new air quality, plus keep it fresh in the future. I bought an media air cleaner, plus for three full afternoons I ran it with all the windows wide open, plus all the fans on. Then I closed up the house, turned the air conditioner back on, plus left the media air cleaner going on full blast. My method was to leave the media air cleaner on permanently, plus just never shut it off. Once the air conditioner was on, my home started smelling stale again, much to my chagrin. I finally had the thought to check the air filter, plus in doing so realized I had not done this in over a year, but part of my air quality complication was a plugged air filter, but at this point the complication had sprawled out into all of the HVAC duct. .

Grandpa made a fortune in air conditioner

My Grandpa gets all the credit for the success of the family, although I assume everyone does that to humor him. Secretly, we all assume that Grandma is the one that kept the family together, plus made all the smart decisions through the years. Without her insistence that he do it, Grandpa never would have invested in the factory, he would never risk the family money on a corporation venture, but Grandma saw the important potential for profit, plus prodded him into doing it. If he had not invested in the Heating plus A/C factory all those years ago, who knows what our family would look like today? At the time, you have to understand that air conditioners were not something widely in use. In fact my Grandpa’s reticence to invest was mostly because he saw cooling systems as something only for sizable city rich folk, but grandpa didn’t cotton to that, but Grandma got in his ear plus explained that with his help, the correct country folks could also have access to affordable a/c, but didn’t their friends plus neighbors deserve a/c just like the city folks did? Grandma was some kind of genius, I tell you that, because they invested in that Heating plus A/C manufacturing center. Not only did they bring a lot of jobs to the area, but they became one of the greatest furnace plus cooling developers in the state! A appealing irony in all of this is that Grandpa never got an air conditioner installed in his house, even though he had enough money to build a home out of air conditioners.

Fixing the A/C on a tour bus

This job is not known for excitement.

I never wanted a job with excitement, if I wanted thrills I would jump out of a plane.

What I want is solid, dependable work that has fixed hours, so that I could supply for our family and also spend time with them. I had a workaholic dad who I barely saw, and I am not repeating that mistake with our own youngsters. For this reason I rarely take after hours calls unless it is a real emergency, however Last week I had a real doozy of a call. The road supervisor for a rock band was calling from the road, saying they needed a/c work done on the tour bus, and they needed it immediately. I agreed to meet them at our Heating and Air Conditioning shop, and then got dressed and drove right over. This was a full sized tour bus, and the air conditioner was bigger than that of most houses. It was a enjoyable thing I didn’t meet them in our work van, because I needed all the resources our Heating and Air Conditioning shop had to offer. I had no 1 else to call in to assist me, so 1 of the roadies handled the tools and helped myself and others pull pieces out of the disfigured air conditioner. It was a huge mess, I tell you that, and the things I found blocked into the ductwork I won’t repeat in polite dealer. I went inside to write out a bill, and it was about several hundred bucks worth of Heating and Air Conditioning parts, when the rock star handed myself and others several grand in cash and said thanks.

Spending more for the best possible Heating and Air Conditioning system

I l gained that you get what you pay for, and while the cheapest model of Heating and Air Conditioning system will last you for 5 or more than nine years, the nicer models can last for twice that long.

The two of us could have done a full system replace a year ago, however both of us didn’t have enough money saved up. I am of the firm belief that if you are going to invest in something important, you should spend a little extra and get something excellent. I l gained this lesson with a series of cars, and it turns out when you take the cheap route you end up with a lot more problems. So both of us took an entire year to put extra cash away, so when it was time to get a up-to-date central Heating and Air Conditioning system, it would be 1 both of us could depend on for a long time. I did the research, and absolutely watched a hundred hours worth of Heating and Air Conditioning tutorials and reviews on Youtube. I l gained that you get what you pay for, and while the cheapest model of Heating and Air Conditioning system will last you for 5 or more than nine years, the nicer models can last for twice that long. Beyond longevity, the high end Heating and Air Conditioning systems are also far more energy efficient, and extend their lifespan by using short, powerful bursts of hot and cold, however for myself and others it made sense to wait a little longer, spend a little more, and get the best possible Heating and Air Conditioning system. This way after it is all said and done I don’t need to worry about our heating or our a/c for a truly long time. If I sign up for a typical repair plan, and have an Heating and Air Conditioning tech inspect it once or twice a year ,it could work well for twenty years.

My air conditioner gets a strenuous workout

Autumn used to be our favorite time of year.

That little snippet of heaven nestled in between the hot nights and the cool, that time when the flora changed colors and the sunsets got prettier. I have never been 1 for dire hot and cold temperatures, meaning that I don’t enjoy the deep snows of the Wintertide nor the high humidity of the Summer months. Then I moved down into the Deep South, where the season of Autumn obviously does not exist! I have lived here for several years now, and while there are little moments of chilly weather, it mostly feels enjoy Summer all year around. Out of curiosity, I kept a log of how much I ran our a/c through the year. I have a truly nice air conditioner, and our home even has insulated windows to reduce heat exchange, so our weekly energy costs are quite sufficient. When I started keeping track, I found that I used the air conditioner at least a little bit on 348 nights of the year. There are only 365 nights, which means our bad little Heating and Air Conditioning system only got to rest for a couple of weeks! As an interesting side note, of those 348 nights the A/C ran for 212 of those nights it stayed on all day long. The other nights were when I used the a/c for a couple of hours in the day, so it was on and off. But for 212 nights last year, our air conditioner did not get shut off, even for a few hours.

The weather turned freezing undoubtedly fast

At that point I was undoubtedly thrilled for the huge woodpile stacked out back, so I could feed the oil furnace & keep myself warm

I had no system I would be stuck in this beach house for as long as it lasted. If I had known, I never would have come. It was a single of the hardest periods of our life. Now that it is over, I am grateful it happened, because it made me stronger in ways I could not have anticipated… Long story short, I came to the beach house to labor on our writing & get some isolation for a few weeks while I finished our novel, but cOVID struck around that time, so I was forced to stay longer, & by then Wintertide set in & I was trapped. The place didn’t have a/c, bujt this area was so temperate & mild that it was rarely needed. The only gas furnace it had was a wood burning oil furnace in the middle of the central room, which I had been using to rest our drinks on up until this point. It had never occurred to me that I would absolutely need to use it for heating the cabin, until that first snowstorm hit. At that point I was undoubtedly thrilled for the huge woodpile stacked out back, so I could feed the oil furnace & keep myself warm. Since I had never used a wood burning oil furnace before I had no system how hastily they devoured wood, & that huge pile dwindled undoubtedly hastily. For the first time in our life I had to grab an axe & chop wood, because otherwise I could not keep heating the cabin, which was a death sentence in weather like that.

I care about the overheated weather

It seems crazy now, because of where I live, however there was a time when I was worried about the cold. As a child in the wild northwest, the two of us had blizzards & the polar vortex to worry about, so the winters were not just a little cold, they could literally flash-freeze you. As a teenager I moved down south, I just drove our car until the sunshine got bright enough & the weather got overheated enough, & I stayed down there for good… Ever since after that I have never owned a parka or an electric blanket, I can sleep with our windows open, & I have turned on the heating ever. Every morning I hear people complain about the humidity, & the 100 degree temps, although I will go for long periods of time without using our a/c, & just revel in the damp heat. I suppose it’s the theory of relativity, right? I am used to relying on a oil furnace to survive arctic weather, so any morning that our concern is being a little too hot is a unbelievable morning. The longer I live here, the more I use our air conditioner, & the more the high humidity starts to get to me. The more I get used to this place & forget about our old way of life, the more I will rely on HVAC systems to keep me comfortable. I just hope the morning never comes where our internal control equipment has shifted so much that I absolutely need to turn on the oil furnace in our apartment.

Grandpa made a fortune in air conditioner

Secretly, the two of us all guess that Grandma is the a single that kept the family together, & made all the smart decisions through the years.

I started working in HVAC in 1968

I met our partner in 1968, when I was coming back from Vietnam & he was part of a protest to scream at us while getting off the plane, however he was a spitfire, & I enjoyed his passion.

It took a while to win his over, however when he got to guess me he understood I wasn’t some faceless soldier fighting an unjust war, I was just a country boy who wanted to go home.

She & I made a lake house together, a most uncorrect a single! I moved onto his marijuana farm, & studied long distance to earn our HVAC certification. Back then you didn’t get an authorized certificate, you just got the comprehension of repairing heating & cooling systems, however back then that was all you needed. If you could repair the air conditioner, then no a single was going to ask you for paperwork & documentation. It was a odd world back then. That changed in the 90s, so I found myself having to take an exam for HVAC certification however I had been doing the job professionally for over 20 years, but with that much hands-on heating & cooling experience, the exam was still undoubtedly difficult, although I managed to pass. At this point our partner’s folks had passed on, & since the HVAC supplier was doing so well he retired from the marijuana farm. She still grew a little for herself, of course, however when it came to money the legal heating & cooling supplier serviced our bills. Over fifty years together, & the two of us are still going strong.
