When they closed that office with the zone controlled heating and air conditioning and sent me home, I thought it would be temporary. Over a year later, I’m still here. My wife was already gigging online from new home in order to do her art. So at least I had someone who could show me the ropes when it came to working from a new home in the a/c. However, I had to take a pay cut and that was not so good. We are relatively new homeowners who chose to really stretch themselves in order to own a home. That’s when we came up with the system of renting out our basement. It had its own plumbing and separate entrance already. They installed a great ductless heat pump in the basement which really set it off. With the addition of a galley kitchenette, we had a great little efficiency apartment. And renting it out really allowed us some breathing room with the bills. Now we have a great occupant who we really appreciate and mesh well with. So that’s a lot of burnt wax in the air. Guess where it wants to collect? That’s right, it’s the HVAC return where it can end up coating the HVAC air filter. I was not at all aware of this as I hadn’t entirely experienced this sort of thing with the shabby HVAC equipment we had in our first and only apartment. But when we got into our new house, we had the latest and greatest when it comes to residential heating and air conditioning. This thing sucked up every bit of the burnt wax in the air and coated the air filter nearly completely. Thankfully, I noticed that the heat pump was entirely cycling on and off so ended up checking the air filter and saw what had happened.
