I will disclose I am a bit of a neat freak, and I don’t enjoy staying in hotel rooms because I don’t trust how clean everything is. When I purchased my home I knew that the previous owners didn’t scrub or clean anything before moving out. I am guessing they took a broom and only did a quick sweep, and that is it. Before I moved all my stuff in, I changed all that I was able to. I purchased myself new, clean light fixtures. I painted over the gross walls and changed to a new toilet. I even purchased a new sink, door handles, cabinet knobs and switch plates, adding new Heating, Ventilation, and A/C vent covers was a must as well. After that, I cleaned everything that was not able to be removed. The floors and ceilings were washed. I cleaned all the countertops plus inside the kitchen cupboards. The whole place smelled clean of bleach when I was done. The last step was I called in my local HVAC business to do their thing. I got the inside of the HVAC system cleaned, oiled and tightened. I didn’t want someone else’s hair, dirt and dust in my system. I also spruing for HVAC duct cleaning, and outdoor elements like sticks, leaves and dirt can get in there. Also indoor elements, like pet fur, hair plus dust mites gather in there. Getting the air ducts cleaned made me feel a whole lot better about moving in all my stuff. Once I knew that my Heating, Ventilation, and A/C was clean, then I could move everything in my new home. I now think all the dirt is my own dirt.
