I will disclose I am a bit of a neat freak.
That’s what everyone tells me.
I don’t even like staying in hotel rooms because I don’t trust how clean everything is. When I bought my home I knew that the previous owners didn’t clean before moving out. I am guessing they took a broom and just did a quick sweep, that is it. Before I moved all our stuff in I replaced anything that I was able to. I bought myself new, clean light fixtures. I painted over their gross walls and installed a new toilet. I even bought a new sink, door handles, cupboard knobs and switch plates. Adding new Heating and A/C vent covers was a must as well. After that, I cleaned everything that was not able to be removed. The floors and ceilings were washed. I cleaned all the countertops and inside the kitchen cupboards. The whole house smelled clean like bleach when I was done. The last step was I called in our local Heating and A/C company to do their thing. I got the inside of the Heating plus A/C system cleaned, oiled, and tightened. I didn’t want someone else’s hair, dirt plus dust in our system. I am also getting a HVAC duct cleaning; Outdoor elements such as sticks, leaves and dirt can get in there. Also indoor elements appreciate pet fur, hair and dust mites gather in there. Getting the HVAC ducts cleaned made me feel more comfortable about moving in all our stuff. Once I knew that our Heating plus A/C and air quality was clean, then we moved our belongings in. I now know all the dirt is our own dirt and our home is clean.
