I will admit I am a bit of a neat freak.
I don’t really enjoy staying in hotel rooms because I don’t trust how clean everything is! When I bought my condo I knew that the previous owners didn’t clean before moving out.
I am guessing they took a broom and did a quick sweep and that’s it. Before I moved all my stuff in, I replaced everything that I possibly could. I bought myself new, clean light fixtures. I painted over the gross walls and even replaced the toilet. I even bought a new sink, door handles, cabinet knobs and switch plates. Adding new Heating and Air Conditioning vent covers was a must as well. After that, I cleaned everything that was not able to be detached. The floors and ceilings were washed. I cleaned all the countertops and inside the kitchen cupboards. The whole house smelled like bleach when I was done. The last step was I called in my local Heating and Air Conditioning business to do their thing. I got the inside of the Heating and Air Conditioning system cleaned, oiled and tightened. I didn’t want someone else’s hair, dirt and dust in my system. I also decided to have a HVAC duct cleaning. Outdoor elements, like sticks, leaves and dirt can get in there. Also, indoor elements love pet fur, hair and dust mites gather in there. Getting the air ducts cleaned made me feel better about moving in all my stuff. Once I knew that my Heating and Air Conditioning and indoor air conditions were clean, then I moved all of my belongings and furniture in. I now know all the dirt in the house is my own dirt and no one else’s.
